In both BANK and CANADA the Ns are repunched with a new font with very thin serifs. The the thin serifs of the new font show at the left side of the top of the right leg.
In UPPER the Ps are repunched in slightly lower relief in a new font with the upper left serif tapers (in the original font they were parallel). The new serifs show because the upper left corners were broken off the original letters.
In CANADA the A is triple punched, with the tripling showing inside the triangle, along the left side of the right leg.

| Die Pair State | Reverse Characteristics |
| 228B.5 | Cr to BANK (T) |
Letter color code: Black = normal, Green = broken & unrepaired, Brown = broken with noteworthy repunching
In BANK the broken original N is repunched in lower relief with a new font with thin serifs. On higher grade examples one can still see the broken edges of the original letter at the upper left corner and the top of the right leg.
In TOKEN the broken original E is repunched in lower relief, so that on higher grade examples one can still see the broken upper left corner and broken edges of the gap in the top arm.
In ONE the original broken O is repunched in low relief, so one can still see the broken section at the top of the original letter.
All examples of BUC-228B we have examined are too worn to allow confirmation of the large rust mark seen on BANK on die R228B used with BUC-228C and BUC-229. Our best guess is that this mark is present on BUC-228B also. As a guide we have provided a photo of this feature on BUC-228C.
